We have been privileged to work with Indigenous artist, author and business woman, Jasmin Herro on her series of Teter Mek books.

The books are the journey of a Torres Strait islander girl who is lost after being swept out to search in a storm. With her memory lost, she embarks on a search to discover who she is and where she is from.

Apart from immersing ourselves in Jasmin’s personal story we embarked on a branding journey in the educational publishing world.


THE CHALLENGE

To find a way for students to discover our extraordinary Indigenous culture.

Given that there are many entertainment options in today’s world the key question was… How do we get children 8-12 to care about indigenous culture in a world full of entertainment distraction?

THE STRATEGY

Kids do love discovering a good story that captivates their imagination, so we positioned Teter Mek as a story of discovering who we are and where we are from.

THE OUTCOMES

Teter Mek and the Mystery of Pearl Shell island published.
OfficeMax have converted over 500 housebrand school lines to Teter Mek branding.
